(सबहुमानम् ), सुकुसुमं, एआगजलं (प्रयागजलम् ), सचावं (सचापम् ), विजणं (विजनम्), अवजलं (अपजलम् ), पिअगमणं (प्रियगमनम् ), सपावं (सपापम् ), अपारो (अपारः), सुतारं (सुतारम् ), अतुलं (अतुलम् ). The consonants क, ग् &c. should not be in the beginning of words-काल:-कालो। गन्धः-गन्धो । चौरः-चोरो। जारः-जारो। तरुः-तरू । दवः-दवो । पापम्-पावं । वर्णः-वण्णो । य् in the beginning of words is changed to जू as in यशः-जसो, जन्म-जम्मो, जातिः-जाई. In कालो, गन्धो &c. क्, गू &c. are in the beginning of words and therefore not dropped. The consonants क्, ग् &c. should not be combined with other consonants. They are not dropped, when combined, as in the following: - अर्कः-अक्को । वर्ग:-वग्गो। अर्च:-अच्चो । वर्यम्-वजं । धूर्तः–धुत्तो। उद्दामः-उद्दामो। कार्यम्-कज्ज । सर्वम्-सव्वं । मर्कटः-मक्कडो । मुद्गरःमोग्गरो । तप्तः-तत्तो । तीव्रः-तिव्वो। The consonants क्, ग् &c. must be preceded by a vowel; they are not dropped, if they are not preceded by a vowel. Of these Hemachandra gives the following instances:शंकरः-संकरो। संगमः-संगमो। नक्तंचरः-नत्तंचरो। धनंजयः-धणंजओ। द्विषंतपः-विसंतवो । पुरंदरः-पुरंदरो। संवृत्तः-संवुडो। संवरःसंवरो। (8) कगटडतदपक पशोरुपर्यने p. 15-The consonants क, ग, ट, ड्, त्, द्,' , जिह्वामूलीय, उपध्मानीय, श, ष, and स् are dropped except in a when they are the first letters of conjunct consonants. (c) लवरामधश्च p. 14-लू, वू, and र् are dropped whether they stand as the first or the second member of a conjunct consonant. (d) मनयाम् p. 13--म् , न् , and L are dropped when they are the second members of a conjunct consonant. In connection with this comes the following Sætra :-- शेषादेशस्याहोचोखोः । p. 15A consonant which remains after the dropping of one of the members of a conjunct consonant and a consonant which is substituted for a conjunct consonant is doubled when it is preceded by a vowel and when it is not in the beginning of a word.
