सीमान्तानां परतः स्थूलेतरपञ्चपापसंत्यागात् । देशावकाशिकेन च महाव्रतानि प्रसाध्यन्ते ॥ ९५ ॥
सामान्यार्थ - सीमाओं के अन्तभाग के आगे स्थूल ओर सूक्ष्म पाँचों पापों का सम्यक् प्रकार से त्याग हो जाने से देशावकाशिकव्रत के द्वारा महाव्रत सिद्ध किये जाते हैं।
Verse 95
Since the householder observing the vow of abstaining from activity with regard to region (deśāvakāśikavrata) gets true riddance, outside his space-boundary, from the five gross and subtle demerits (pāpa ), he is said to be observing, for that time, the great vows (mahāvrata).
EXPLANATORY NOTE
ācārya Amštacandra's Purusārthasiddhyupāya: इति विरतौ बहुदेशात्तदुत्थहिंसाविशेषपरिहारात् । तत्कालं विमलमतिः श्रयत्यहिंसां विशेषेण ॥ १४० ॥
This way, desisting from activity in a vast region for a fixed time period, the pure-minded effectively renounces, for that time and space, all himsā, and, therefore, must be deemed to observe the vow of complete ahimsā.
