૧૦. શ્રાવક ધર્મમાં દાન અને પૂજા મુખ્ય છે, એના સિવાય શ્રાવક
ન કહેવાય તથા શ્રમણ-ધર્મમાં ધ્યાન અને અધ્યયન મુખ્ય છે. જેના સિવાય શ્રમણ ન કહેવાય.
160. In householders, prime duties, charity and
worship are covered, without which a householder is not qualified to be a 'Shravak', whereas in saintly (monk's) life, meditation and studies of scriptures are the main functions, in absence of which he is not qualified to be a 'Shraman'.
१६१. सन्ति एगेहिं भिक्खूहिं, गारत्था संजमुत्तरा ।
गारत्थेहिं य सव्वेहिं, साहवो संजमुत्तरा ॥३॥
साधुजन सभी गृहस्थों से संयम में श्रेष्ठ होते हैं, किन्तु कुछ गृहस्थ भिक्षुओं की अपेक्षा संयम में श्रेष्ठ होते हैं ।
૧૬૧. સાધુ બધા ગૃહસ્થોથી સંયમમાં શ્રેષ્ઠ હોય છે, પરંતુ કોઈક
ગૃહસ્થ ભિક્ષુઓની તુલનાએ સંયમમાં શ્રેષ્ઠ હોય છે.
161. An ascetic is the best as compared to all the
householders so far as observance of restraint and self control is concerned. But exceptionally, some householders are comparatively
