Māņikya Nandi is stated in the Pariksāmukha-laghuvrtti to have got his inspiration in Logic from Akalanka Deva? (often called simply Akalanka; or Deva *) who fourished about 750 A.D. The approximate date in which Māņikya Nandi lived is 800 A.D." The Pariksämukha-laghuvrtti is also known by the names of Pariksă mukha-panjikă? and Prameyaratnamālā." It is the work of a Digambara logician named Anantavīrya, the famous author of a gloss on Akalanka's Nyāyayiniscaya called Nyâyaviniscayavịtti. Anantavīryà observes that it was at the request of Hirapa, the beloved son of Vaijeya, that he undertook for the sake of Sāntipena to write the Pariksāmukha-pañjikā. Now, Säntisena, supposed be identical with Santi Sūri, died in samvat 1096 or A.D. 1039. !! His contemporary Anantavīrya must, therefore, have flourished i wa affifa 19mfat: tamatie afo (Dharmakirti's Nyāyabindu.
