3. Words and idioms taken from Prakrits and vernaculars, e.g.
(i) 1977, safata ( 262, 267 ) 'calamity.' It is not the same word as श्रावलि, श्रावलिका "row, string,' but it is a back-formation from Pkt. आवलिया fron Skt. आपद्+ल+ इका. Cf. Pkt. विजुलिया • from Skt. विद्युत् +ल+इका. The use aratai 28274 (267) in the same sense as 2190ageer (358) supports the suggestion. ___Also Cf. Hindi औली 'calamity'; औली टलना 'calainity becoming ineffective.' Platts in his Hindustani-English Dictionary records:
"H, site [ S. 39+ ? ] m. Great calamity ( as a ) plague, cholera etc.
"H. Frant or entert f. Any great calamity = औल; mortal danger=अली (H)."
(ii) ara(230)‘began, started', It corresponds to Hindi Prato begin.'. In this sense the word is used in Pūrņabhadra's version of the Pancatantra's , e.g., Failah TTA:(122, 18), atstafa A:
