1. navakāra mahāmantra
| इन पाँचों को किया हुआ नमस्कार सर्व पापों का नाश करने वाला है Obeisance performed to these five is an annihilator of all sins and [this obeisance] | और सर्व मंगलों में [ यह नमस्कार ] प्रथम मंगल है. is the most auspicious deed among all the auspices........ विशेषार्थ :Specific meaning :

pañca paramesthi :- The arihanta and the siddha- two types of gods and the
ācārya, the upadhyaya and the sadhu-three types of preceptors-- these five parameṣthis are most highly venerable.
108 qualities of five paramesthis :- The arihanta have twelve the siddha have eight, the ācārya have thirty six, the upadhyāya have twenty five and the sādhu have twenty seven-- in all the five parameṣthis have one hundred and eight qualities.
| परमेष्ठी = परम पद पर स्थित / छट्ठे आदि गुण-स्थानकों द्वारा उच्च paramesthi = Present in the highest position / souls having attained the highest कक्षा को प्राप्त की हुई आत्माएं.
| अरिहंत = कर्म रूपी आंतर शत्रुओं को नाश करके वंदन - पूजन - सत्कार तथा सिद्धि-गमन के योग्य बने व्यक्ति सभी तीर्थकर भगवंत अरिहंत, जिनेश्वर व सर्वज्ञ होते है. यहां पर अरिहंत शब्द का प्रयोग तीर्थकर भगवंत के लिए किया है.
position through guna-sthānakas like sixth. arihanta Person having become worthy of obeisance, worship, honour and attainment of salvation by annihilating internal enemies prevailing in the form of karma. All tirthankara bhagavantas are arihanta, jineśvara and sarvajña. Here the word arihanta is used for tirthankara bhagavanta.
| तीर्थकर = साधु, साध्वी, श्रावक और श्राविका रूप चतुर्विध संघ [ तीर्थ] tirthankara = kevali, the establishers of four-fold congregation [tirtha]of sādhu,

पंच परमेष्ठी :- अरिहंत और सिद्ध- दो प्रकार के देव एवं आचार्य, उपाध्याय और साधु- तीन प्रकार के गुरु- ये पाँच परमेष्ठी परम पूज्य हैं.
पंच परमेष्ठी के १०८ गुण :- अरिहंत के बारह, सिद्ध के आठ, आचार्य के छत्तीस, उपाध्याय के पच्चीस एवं साधु के सत्ताईस - सर्व मिलाकर पंच परमेष्ठियों के १०८ गुण होते हैं.
