________________ later produce feelings and emotions in the physical body or gross body.18 II- Gross Body The above four stages take place in the subtle body only. These subtle activities trigger the gross body producing emotions (endocrine system), sensory actions (nervous system), mental system and finally resulting into actions (muscular system). 9.2.5 Granthi tantra / Endocrine system In the fifth stage, our emotions, feeling and passions come into play. "The neuroendocrine system is the seat of feeling, emotions and passions of man. Impulses and urges which are the forerunners of emotions and passions, not only generate feelings but also command appropriate action that satisfy the need."' All the passions, emotions and impelling forces are the actions of the endocrine expressions. The reasoning mind itself has no emotions but many a time the powerful impulses from the endocrine can overwhelm and continue to tinge the supposed reasoning. "The subtle energy fields of aura directly influence the psychic centers in the physical body, which are closely associated with the ductless endocrine glands in the neuro-endocrine system. The resulting type and amount of the hormones secreted represent the urges and impulses that first started in the form of adhyavasayas. The hormones in turn affect the emotional level where the learned instincts and records are formed and stored. Relevant records are then processed by the brain at the mental level, which then sends appropriate messages for further mental, vocal and physical actions and reactions.
