________________ PREFACE The L. D. Institute of Indology has great pleasure in offering to the world of Prakrit scholars the hitherto unpublished Gābārayaņakosa compiled by Jineśvarasūri in 13th century of Vikrama Era. It has 58 sections. Its arrangement and subject matter closely follow those of the other similar anthologies. The importance of gāthāsangrahas or anthologies consists in rescuing from oblivion a large number of fleeting verses. The L. D. Institute of Indology is thankful to Pt. Amritlal M. Bhojak and Dr. Nagin J. Shah for editing this interesting work. They have also edited in this volume hitherto unpublished two other tiny gāthāsangrahas. Some important words occurring in these three gāthāsangrahas are listed in the first Appendix. The second Appendix lists the gathās common to the Gaharayanakosa and the Vajjālagga. They have given the gathā index of all the three gāthasangrahas separately. Thus they have taken great pains to make the edition useful. They have tried to make the text as flawless as possible. Their introduction is really interesting and informative. It is hoped that the publication of this work will be of great interest to the students and scholars of Prakrit language and literature. L.
