GÍTA-RAHASYA OR KARMA-YOGA
ma Non-Dualistic pro citā-Rahasya with
६ त्रिभिर्गुणमयैर्भावैरेभिः सर्वमिदं जगत् ।
मोहितं नाभिजानाति मामेभ्यः परमव्ययम् ॥१३॥ दैवी ह्येषा गुणमयी मम माया दुरत्यया।
मामेव ये प्रपद्यन्ते मायामेतां तरन्ति ते ॥१४॥ Parameśvara; and this meaning is now plainly brought out by the Blessed Lord
(13) This entire universe, being confused by the threebhāva' (that is, objects), which are the embodiment of the three (sattva, rajas and tamas ) constituents, does not realise Me, the Inexhaustible ( Parameśvara ), Who Am beyond them (that is, necessarily qualityless).
Māvā, or ignorance is the inherent quality of the senses and of the Body, in which the three-constituents are embodied; it is not the quality of the Atman; the Ātman is Jõānaformed, and is permanent; and It is thrown into confusion, by the senses: this Non-Dualistic proposition, which has been mentioned in Chapter IX of the Gītā-Rahasya with reference to Māyā, has been stated in the above stanza.
(See Gi. 7. 24 and Gi. Ra. Ch. IX, pp. 325-341. ] (14) This My divine Māyā, which is the embodiment of the constituents, is difficult to understand; and therefore, they alone, who surrender themselves to Me, can swim through this Māyā.
[This clearly shows that the Blessed Lord refers to the three-constituented Prakrti of the Samkhya system as His Māyā. It has been stated in the Nārāyanīyopākhyāna of the Mahābhārata that, the Blessed Lord, after showing His. Cosmic Form to Nārada, said in the end :
māyā hyeşā mayā srstā yan mām paśyasi nāruda 1 sarvabhūtaguņairyuktam naiva tvam jñātum arhası li
( Sân. 339. 44) that is, "O Nārada, that which you see, is the Māyā, which has been created by Me. Do not think that I possess the qualities, which are to be found in the created world".
