प्रणवः सर्ववेदेषु शब्दः खे पौरुषं नृषु ॥८॥ पुण्यो गन्धः पृथिव्यां च तेजश्चामि विभावसौ। जीवनं सर्वभूतेषु तपश्चामि तपस्विषु ॥९॥ बीजं मां सर्वभूतानां विद्धि पार्थ सनातनम् ।
बुद्धिर्बुद्धिमतामस्मि तेजस्तेजस्विनामहम् ॥१०॥ Evolutes (vikāru) is not shown. Therefore, there is a difference between the classification in the Mahābhārata and the classification in the Gītā, according to which latter, the seven prakrti-vikrti and the Mind make up the Fundamental eight-fold Praksti (Gi. Ra. p. 249). In short, it must be borne in mind that although the Gītā does not accept the independent Prakrti of Sāmkhya philosophy, the description of the further growth of Prakrti is essentially the same in both places. As in the Gītā, so also in the Upanisads, there is a statement that,
etasmāj jāyate prāņo manaḥ sarvendriyāni ca !
kham vāyur jyotir āpah prthivi vrśvasya dhāriņā it that is, "from this (para-puruşa), Prāna (Vitality), the Mind, all the senses, ether, air, fire, water, and the earth, which supports the Universe, these (all) are created" (Munda. 2.1.3; Kai. 1. 15; Prašna. 6. 4). For further details, see Chapter VIII of the Gītā-Rahasya. It has been stated by the Blessed Lord in the 4th stanza that He Himself is the five Elements, namely, the Earth, Water, etc. Now, saying that He is also the qualities which are to be found in these Elements, the Blessed Lord makes clear what is meant by the statement made above, that all these things are strung on a string like beads
(8) I am the Liquidity, of water, O Kaunteya; I am the Effulgence, of the Sun and the Moon; I am the pranava' (that is, the Om-kāra), in all the Vedas; I am the Sound, of Ether; and I am also the Manhood, in all men.
