THAKORDAS J. PANJI has rendered a great service to the Gujarati public by preparing, probably for the first time, a Sanskrit Grammar, in the local vernacular. Those, who have no time and means to study Sanskrit in'a Pathshala or with a guru after the old fashion, will be able to acquire a fair knowledge of Sanskrit with the help of Mr. Panji's" Bhasha Pradeep.” When the experiment of teaching Sanskrit as a second language in the higher standards of Gujarati Schools is tried or when vernacular High Schools are opened, the Pradeep will play an important part as a text-book for the study of Sanskrit. The book deserves encouragement not only from the public at large but also from the Educational Department. LUNAWADA, 28th October 1910. HARGOVIND D.
