Sanskrit is well-known to be the venerable mother of the vernacular languages, and it contains excellent works not only of religion and philosophy but of almost all the different branches of learning which interest mankind. Though often called a 'Dead Language, it is the source of vitality and energy to our people, and any work which purports to facilitate the study of that difficult language deserves encouragement and support from the public as well as from the educational authorities.
Your work is, I believe, the first of its kind; and it supplies a long felt want in our literature. The necessity of importing instructiou through the Vernaculars is now -widely recognized, and your work will go far towards meeting that neccssity.
I am not quite sure if boys and girls of a very tender age will profit by the learned work which you have produced. Perhaps, the work is too difficult for them. I presume to think that a single treatise can not possibly meet the varying requirements of persons differing in age and calibre. That, however, does not in any way mitigate the importance of your work. Thanking you once more.
I remain, yours truly,
