and gives sufficient information for beginners. It is however doubtful whether the system adopted can be a very helpful one for mere beginners. It is no doubt in conformation with systems adopted in Sanskrit grammars useful for those who already have some knowledge of the language. For mere beginners, who are total strangers to the language this system will only seem tiresome and lengthy. However this being almost the first attempt of the sort, the book deserves every encouragement at the hands of those taking interest in the study of and promulgation of the knowledge of Sanskrit language and literature..

“સ’સ્કૃત ભાષા પ્રદીપ” શિર્ષક તમારા ગ્રંથ મળ્યો. એ ગ્રંથ લખી ગુજરાતી ભાષાની તમે એક હેાટી ખાટ પૂરી પાડી છે એટલુ જ નહીં પણ એ ગ્રંથની ભૂમિકામાં વર્ણવેલા તમારા અનુભવથી તમે સાખીત કરી આપ્યું છે કે ગુજરાતી ખાલકોને જો ઘણી કુમળી વયથી સંસ્કૃત શિખવવાનું શરૂ કરવામાં આવે તેા તે કાંઇ પણ મુશ્કેલી વગર એ ભાષા બહુ સારી રીતે શિખી શકે. ચિ॰ સુલોચના તથા સદ્ગત ભાઇ છગનલાલને તમે હંમેશ સવાર સાંજ સંસ્કૃતના પાઠ આપતા હતા તે જોઇ મને એમ લાગતુ` હતુ` કે એ સ્તુત્ય કાર્ય એ છોકરાઓની ઘણી કાચી વયે તમે શરૂ કર્યું છે, પરંતુ પિરણામે તમારા તર્ક ખરે ઠર્યો લાગે છે. સંસ્કૃત ભાષા પ્રત્યે તમારા અગાઢ પ્રેમની આ ગ્રંથ એક નિશાની છે, અને મને આશા છે કે કેલવણીના કામમાં એ ગ્રંથ ખરેખર સહાયરૂપ થઈ પડશે.
