comprehensiveness and lucidity of its matter and manner, I think you have considerably succeeded in accomplishing your purpose. The introduction is short but sweet, giving in a narrow compass all the important and interesting information concerning the history of Sanskrit Grammar. The book proper, too, embraces almost all the important departments of Sanskrit Grammar and the chapters, too, seem to be arranged in well graduated order and logical sequence. Appendix No. 3—the Vocabulary of roots will be found particularly helpful and interesting to the student as well as the general reader.
A more general adoption, than is, at present, the case, of the
aculars as a medium for imparting the knowledge of Sanskrit will, in my opinion greatly conduce to remove the apathy and aversion to a methodic, intelligent and advanced study of Sanskrit, which unfortunately is so prevalent amongst us, and will also act as a good stimulant in creating in the minds of students, a healthy taste and tendency for the study of Sanskrit lore and learningthe richest, noblest and invaluable heritage, that we possess, and of which, we should be justly proud. Your book, therefore, is in my opinion, particularly welcome as an attempt in this direction, and deserves commendation and good wishes for its success, at the hands of all true und ardent devotees of Sanskrit Language and Literature. The book deserves to be patronized by libraries and other public literary and educational institutions, and may also be profitably awarded as a prize or Present book to students; studying in the higher standards of High Schools.
