________________ 76 Dinanath Sharma SAMBODHI Looking to the above references, we come to the conclusion that in the era of Lord Buddha (6th century B.C.), palaeography prevailed in India very commonly. Women and children used to learn how to write and read. Learning method was the same as we observe now in government primary/ private schools. Then we have to admit that palaeography equally common before Buddha era. If we look into the most ancient Indian literature, we find so many evidences that lead us to even remote antiquity when India had prevalent system of palaeography.
