जीव (स्वाधीन रूप से) पुनः-पुनः स्वकृत शुभाशुभ कर्मों को करके उन कर्मों के फल को भोगता है, किन्तु परकृत अर्थात् दूसरे के द्वारा किये गये कर्मों के फल को नहीं भोगता है। वे कर्म हैं—प्राणातिपात विरति यावत् परिग्रह विरति।
Indulging repeatedly in activity, the animate thing continues to suffer the consequences of his own deeds, but he does not suffer the consequences of others deeds. The activities range from refraining from violence to refraining from possessiveness.
वह सम्बुद्ध–सम्यक् ज्ञानवान्, कर्मागमन के द्वारों को बन्द कर देने वाला तथा चातुर्याम धर्म का पालक श्रमण आठ प्रकार की कर्मग्रन्थि को नहीं बांधता है। उसे वे ही कर्म चार प्रकार से विपाक रूप में नहीं प्राप्त होते हैं। वे हैं-नरक, तिर्यक्, मनुष्य और देव।
The wise (having right knowledge), vigilant towards Karma and observer of the four dimensional discipline, is not drawn into the eight types of bondages. For him the Karmas do not precipitate in four directions; which are : hellish, animal, human and devine.
यह लोक कभी नहीं था, ऐसा नहीं है। यह लोक कभी नहीं है, ऐसा भी नहीं है। यह लोक कभी नहीं रहेगा, ऐसा भी नहीं है।
It is not that the world was never there; nor is it that the world is not there; nor is it that the world will not be.
यह लोक पहले था, वर्तमान में है और भविष्य में भी रहेगा, क्योंकि यह लोक ध्रुव है, नित्य है, शाश्वत है, अक्षय है, अव्यय है और नित्य अवस्थित है। जैसे पंचास्तिकाय कभी नहीं थे, ऐसा नहीं है। यावत् नित्य हैं। इसी प्रकार लोक भी कभी नहीं था, ऐसा नहीं है, यावत् नित्य अवस्थित है।
The world was, in and will be there. The world is constant, incessant, eternal, durable and perpetual. As the five fundamentals are never non-existant so is the world never non-existant.
एवं से सिद्ध बुद्धे विरते विपावे दन्ते दविए अलं ताई णो पुणरवि इच्चत्थं हव्वमागच्छति त्ति बेमि।
इस प्रकार वह सिद्ध, बुद्ध, विरत, निष्पाप, जितेन्द्रिय, वीतराग एवं पूर्ण त्यागी बनता है और भविष्य में पुनः इस संसार में नहीं आता है।
