इच्छन्तेणिच्छते इच्छा, अणिच्छं तं पि इच्छति ।
तम्हा इच्छं अणिच्छाए, जिणित्ता सुहमेहती ।। 4 ।।
4. इच्छा चाहने वालों को नहीं चाहती, अपितु अनिच्छुक को चाहती है। अतः इच्छा को अनिच्छा से जीतकर (जीव) सुख पाता है।
4. Desire-fulfilment obliges him who has scorned it. One who conquers desire with desirelessness is the heir to lasting happiness.
दव्वओ खेत्तओ कालओ भावओ जहाथामं जहाबलं जधाविरियं अनिगूहन्तो आलोएज्जासि त्ति ।।
द्रव्य, क्षेत्र, काल, भाव और यथा धैर्य, पराक्रम और पुरुषार्थ को न छिपाकर आलोचना — प्रायश्चित्त करे ।
All situations and circumstances, temporal, spatial, metaphysical and ethical should be examined ruthlessly and amends made for any moral lapse on these accounts.
एवं से सिद्धे बुद्धे विरते विपावे दन्ते दविए अलं ताई णो पुणरवि इच्चत्थं हव्वमागच्छति त्ति बेमि ।
इस प्रकार वह सिद्ध, बुद्ध, विरत, निष्पाप, जितेन्द्रिय, वीतराग एवं पूर्णत्यागी बनता है और भविष्य में पुनः इस संसार में नहीं आता है।
This is the means, then, for an aspirant to attain purity, enlightenment, emancipation, piety, abstinence and nonattachment. Such a being is freed of the chain of reincarnations. इइ दीवायणिज्जमज्झयणं । ।
ऐसा मैं (अर्हत् द्वैपायन ऋषि) कहता हूँ।
