11. विविध दुःखों / कष्टों से उपार्जित गम्भीर तपोराशि को क्रोधाग्नि क्षणमात्र में भस्म कर डालती है। जैसे प्रज्वलित आग उसमें डाले हुए पदार्थों को तत्काल भस्म कर देती है।
11. Great virtue acquired by prolonged penances is ruined by a momentary angry outburst, as everything is burnt in a jiffy by flame.
कोण अप्पं डहती परं च अत्थं च धम्मं च तहेव कामं ।
तिव्वं च वरं पि करेन्ति कोधा अधरं गति वा वि उविन्ति कोहा।।12।।
12. क्रोध स्वयं को भी जलाता है और दूसरों को भी जलाता है। क्रोध अर्थ, धर्म और काम को भी जला देता है। तीव्र क्रोध वैर-विरोध भी करा देता है तथा क्रोध नीच गति को भी प्राप्त कराता है।
12. Anger reduces the subject as well as object both to ashes. It razes the three achievements of Dharma, Artha and Kama (spiritualism, wealth and fulfilment of desires).
Angry fulmination breeds severe enmity and brings about the meanest doom.
कोहाविद्धा ण याणन्ति मातरं पितरं गुरुं । अधिक्खिवन्ति साधू य, रायाणो देवयाणि य ।।13।।
13. क्रोधाविष्ट माता, पिता और गुरु को भी नहीं जानता - समझता और साधु, राजा तथा देवताओं का भी अपमान कर देता है।
13. A man in anger little cares for parents and mentors and may slight in such a fit the saint, the prince and the gods, indiscriminately.
कोवमूलं णियच्छन्ति, धणहाणिं बन्धणाणि य ।
पियविप्पओगे य बहू, जम्माई मरणाणि य ।।14।।
14. क्रोध धनहानि और बन्धनों का मूल है। प्रियजनों का वियोग एवं जन्ममरणों का मूल भी यही है ।
14. Anger is the root cause of adversity and bondage. It causes bereavement and reincarnations also.
