3. The world is not an illusion. There was no point of time when the world was non-existent. Nor is it non-existent now, nor shall be so in future. The world is perennial-verily beginningless and endless. पडुप्पण्णमिणं सोच्चा
सूरसहगतो गच्छे : जत्थेव सूरिये। अत्थमज्जा खेत्तंसि वा णिण्णंसि वा तत्थेव णं पादुप्पभायाए रयणीये जाव तेजसा जलन्ते एवं खलु मे कप्पति पातीणं वा पडीणं वा दाहिणं वा उदीणं वा पुरतो जुगमेत्तं पेहमाणे अहारीयमेव रीतित्तए।
प्रत्युत्पन्न अर्थात् वार्तमानिक इस सत्य तथ्य को सुनकर (मुमुक्षु) सूर्य के साथ गमन करे। जहां सूर्य अस्त हो जाय उस समय खेत हो या ऊंची नीची भूमि हो (श्रमण) वहीं रुक जावे। रात्रि के व्यतीत हो जाने पर, तेज से जाज्वल्यमान सूर्य के उदय होने पर पूर्व, पश्चिम, उत्तर या दक्षिण किसी भी दिशा में युगमात्र (चार हाथ परिमाण की) भूमि को देखते हुए (श्रमण को) यथारीति से चलना-विचरण करना कल्पता है।
Let the aspirant realise this metaphysical truth and let him follow the solar motion. The moment the sun sets, he should halt there, be it a field or a plateau. As soon as the sun rises after the nocturnal spell, he should rebegin his ambulation in any of the four directions, east, west, north or south, barely seeing a yard of space ahead.
एवं सिद्धे बुद्धे विरते विपावे दन्ते दविए अलं ताई णो पुणरवि इच्चत्थं हव्वमागच्छति त्ति बेमि।
सिरिगिरिज्जणामज्झयणं।
इस प्रकार वह सिद्ध, बुद्ध, विरत, निष्पाप, जितेन्द्रिय, वीतराग एवं पूर्णत्यागी बनता है और भविष्य में पुनः इस संसार में नहीं आता है।
___This is the means, then, for an aspirant to attain purity, enlightenment, emancipation, piety, abstinence and nonattachment. Such a being is freed of the chain of reincarnations.
ऐसा मैं (माहण परिव्राजक अर्हत् श्रीगिरि ऋषि) कहता हूँ। Thus I, Brahmin, nomad Shrigiri, the seer, do pronounce. श्रीगिरि नामक सैंतीसवाँ अध्ययन पूर्ण हुआ।37।
