768. The equipment required for painting consists of various different colours and colour-brushes ( वण्णअतुलिल्ल ). The ladies draw (ffa), as it were, the portrait of their lover with brushes in the form of their eye-lashes (4) becoming multi-coloured (fafaga), when the lustre of gems in their earornaments ( कण्णऊर) pervades these eye-lashes. 769. The one-direction (4) view, for instance the frontal view, of these ladies in its clear and bright aspect (fa), looks charming, when overspread by the rays of toenails() shooting upwards, appearing like lovely stagecurtains(3), (illumined by foot-lights).
770. The eyes of these ladies, with their eye-lashes fluttering ( फुरंत ) and tremulous ( लोल ) in dalliance, appear to be flying (f), as it were, like birds, towards their lover, with flapping ( तरलिअ ) wings, the fringes of which are drawn in ( संपुङग्ग ).
771. Their white teeth fall upon the lower lip of their lover close by (TUT), as they ardently kiss him. The bright rays of the teeth appear like white lotus-stalks (), with which they suck in the distilled juice of his mouth. This picture corresponds with similar scenes in restaurants where men and women come together to drink from glasses full of liquids with the help of grass.
