"I have been asked by Prof: Dr. Klaus Bruhn (Director, Seminar Fuer Indische Philologie) to communicate to you our thanks for sending him a copy of Lesya Kosa. In our Seminar we are at present concentrating our research activities in the field of Jainological studies. We hope to benefit greatly from the present volume af your valuable cyclopaedia.
We look forward for the future volumes and eagerly await the next volume on Lesya from tee Digambar sources. We will be highly obliged for your coming publications.
We wish you all success in your praiseworthy project, Prof. Dr. Vittorc Pisani, University of Milano, Italy.
"Lesya is a concept peculiar to Jain Religion and Philosophy. In this, as in the other Indian religions, souls are subjected to transmigration on account of Karman (Good or Bad actions committed) apd can be delivered from the Sansar only when they be delivered from the consequences of Karman. This condition of the Soul is realized according to the Jain in a kind of physical substance which adherss to it and can be identified with a black or azure or grey or yellow or pink or white colour, which is precisely the Lesya. The disappearance of this indicates the end of the contact with malter, and the liberation.
In this Cyclopaedia ( in Hindi ) the authers have collected passages of canonical works relating to each aspect and point of the doctrine of Lesya and provide students of Jainism with a valuable collection of material ”
Dr. Prof. L. Alsdorf, Seminar fur Kultur and Geschichte Indiens, Universitat Hamburg.
Please forgive the delay, caused by heavy pressure of work and temporary absence from Hamburg, with which I acknowledge receipt of your Lesya-Kosa and accept my very sincere thanks for this most valuable and welcome gift. The theory of Karman, of which Lesya Doctrine is an integral part, is the very centre and heart of Jainism ;
