10 [ Vairāgyāștakam ]
ārttadhyānākhyamekaṁ syānmohagarbhaṁ tathā'param. sajjñānasangatam ceti vairāgyaṁ trividhaṁsmộtam.
Renunciation is described as three-fold – first originated through mournful conditions, second delusioninfected and third one imbued with right knowledge.
istetaraviyogādinimittaṁ prāyaso hi tat. yathāśaktyapi heyādāva pravșttyādivarjitam. udvegakşdvişādāļhyamātmaghātādikāraṇam. ārttadhyānaṁ hyado mukhyam vairāgyam lokato matam.
The mental state originated because of the alienation and association from favourite and disfavourite objects respectively and lacking the discrimination between right and wrong with the best of one's capacity is mournful thinking. This type of thinking, causing distress, imbued with depression, cause of suicide etc. is, infact, basically mournful but is generally called renunciation.
eko nityastathā'baddhaḥ kṣayyasadveha sarvathā. ātmeti niscayādbhūyo bhavanairgunyadarśanāt. tattyāgāyopaśāntasya sadvșttasyāpi bhāvataḥ. vairāgyam tadgatam yattan mohagarbhamudāhstam.
The detachment from this world, to renounce it, even of the subsidient and virtuous one with auspicious
