________________ अष्टकप्रकरणम् 115 eva vivāhadharmādau tathā silpanirüpaņe. na doso hyuttamam punyamitthameva vipacyate. Thus, in marriage duties etc. as well as in demonstrating crafts etc. there is no sin because excellent merit ( auspicious Tīrthankara nāmakarman ) is realised in this way. kiñcehādhikadoșebhyaḥ sattvānāṁ rakṣaṇam tu yat. upakārastadevaisām pravsttyangam tathāsya ca. Moreover, the motive, of that service of the creatures ( aimed at ) protecting them from more sins, is the cause of his ( Seer's ) inclination that way ( in giving away state etc. ). nāgāde rakṣaṇam yadvadgartädyākarşaņena tu. kurvanna dosavāṁstadvadanyathā'sambhavādayam. Just as one, pulling out somebody from the pits etc. to protect from snakes etc., is not guilty, similarly, ( in granting the state etc., he does not commit sin ) because of avoiding otherwise ( dire consequences ). itthar caitadihaistavyamanyathā deśanāplayam. kudharmādinimittatvāddoṣāyaiva prasajyate. In this way, ( to avoid dire consequences ) by inflicting ( little harm ) this ( handing over state etc. ) be considered ( blemishless ) otherwise precept etc. also being the cause of vices etc. ( will be considered ) as producing demerit.
