________________ (109) “When evil fate befalls men, (then) leave aside other (=Dordinary) persons, even the good (persons) avoid them". Here graft and arafe are the 'ādeśas of an and arac. .Dr. Bhayani traces the adesas thus : तावत् > ताव > ताम्व> ताम, ताउँ; Loc. sing. form ताम्वहि.1 . के 407. वा (=विकल्पेन) यद्'-'तद्'-एतयोः अत्अन्तयाः (= यावत् - तावत् - इत्येतयोः) (वादि - अवयवस्य) डित् - 'एवड'-(आदेशः भवति) In Apabhramsa यद् and तद् with अतु ending, i. e. यावत् and तावत् , take डित् एवड adesa alternatively, in place of their वादि element (i. e. in place of वत्) i.e. यावत् =जेवड; तावत् = तेवड. .. Illustrations : • (1) जेवडु अंतरु रावणरामहं तेवडु अंतरु पट्टण - गामहं । .. __= यावत् अन्तरं रावणरामयोः तावत् अन्तरं पट्टण - प्रामयाः ॥ “There is as much difference between Rāvana and Rāma, as (exists) between a city and a village”. Here gas and aag illustrate the Sūtra. They are to be traced to यद् + वड्ड (Desya.) = 'so big', and तद् + वड्ड (Desya) ='that big'. The metre is वदनक (6+4+4+2=16 matras). (Vide : Chandonusāsana, ed. H. D. Velankar, p. 342). ___Alternative forms are जेत्तुला (= यावान् ) and तेत्तुला (=तावान् ). They are likely to have been derived from यद् + तुल्य, and तद्+तुल्य. 408. वा (विकल्पेन) (पूक्तिः आदेशः भवति ) 'इदम्' – 'किम्' (एतयोः अव्यययोः) यादि - (अवयवस्य)। In Apabhramsa इदम् and किम् with अतु ending-i.e. इयत् and कियत् take डित् एवड adesa. in place of their यादि element (i. e. यत् ), alternatively.
