________________ संकुअ-संकलिओ प्रसरः । नद्यो हि समुद्रमवाप्य विरमन्ति । एतदुक्तं भवति । सुकवीनां वाप्रवहः सरस्वतीसरित्प्रवह इव नन्दत्विति अन्तर्भावितश्लेषोऽ यमिति ।। May the stream of the Divine Poetic Speech (sarassai) of good poets flourish--the stream which operates according to its own will and with choice meties (chanda), which is precious (mahaggha) due to the dignity imparted by the wealth of flawless diction (paya), and the flow whereof is blocked only by the blockheads (jalahi); and which thereby resembles the stream of the river Sarasvati (sarassai), which moves according to its own liking (chamda), which commands reverance (mahaggha) due to its mass of overflowing limpid water (paya), and the onward flow whereof is blocked only by the sea (jalahi). (1) Anthologist's homage to poets हिययाइँ सज्जणाणं रंजइ कसिणेइ खलयण-मुहाई । सव्वं सुहासियं पि हु जाण नमो ताण सुकईणं ॥ २ सुधासितमिति । सुधा प्रासादधवलनद्रव्यं तद्वत सितमपि शुद्धमपि येषां काव्यं सजनहृदयानि रञ्जयति, खलमुखानि कृष्णयति, तेभ्यः सुकविभ्यो नमः । सितस्य हि रञ्जनकृष्णीकरणे विरुध्येते । विरोधश्चायं शब्दतेो नार्थतः, 'सुहासियं' इति पद यतः सुभाषितशब्दादपि भवति । तेन यत् सुभाषितं कायं तस्य सज्जनहृदयादिरञ्जना. दिकमविरुद्धमेवेति ॥ Salutations to the good prets : (it is a wonder that) all of their (creations), even though they are suhāsiya (I. chunanm-white, 2, pure and excellent works of verbal art) dye (2. give joy to, ranjai) the hearts of the good, and blacken the faces of the wicked.
