________________ तारायणो . ७१ him in the matter of offering their daighters in marriage, thinking he was a hermaphrodite (171) ( Index Verse 3 * ) 'पर-देस-देउलावासियाए' 'जो रक्खई' [22] त्ति अणवजं । आणंदिय-सवणं सेयभिक्खुणो वंदिमो वयणं ॥ १७२ ‘पर देस देउलावासियाए' 'जो रक्खइ'1 इति गाथाद्वयात्मकं 'अणयज्ज' अनवद्यमत एवानन्दितश्रवण' श्वेतभिक्षोः । 'वदिमो' वन्दामहे वचनर्मिति ।। We bow down to the words of the White-Clad Monk (seyabhikkhu i.e. Bippibhatti) till the form of the two Gathas having respectively) paradesa-deulāvāsiyāe and jo rakkhai (as their keywords), which are flawiess and which delignt the ears. (172) पर-देस-देउलावासियाए असईए पेल्लिय पइट। चोरं काऊण पई कुढियाण समप्पिओ भत्ता ॥१७३ परदेशे देवकुलं देवगृहं तत्र चावासितया असत्या। पेल्लिय' प्रेर्य । ततः ‘पइट्ठ' प्रविष्टम्। चौरं पति। 'काऊण' कृत्वा । 'कुढियाण'5 पृष्ठतो लग्नानां राजपुरुषाणां । निज-भर्ताऽयं चौर इति समर्पित इति ॥ The uncbaste woman, who had taken lodging in a temple in a foreiga chiniry, pissed off as her husband the thief that had been compelled to enter there, and she handed over to the pursuers her (real) husband as the thief. (173) जो महई परस्स धणं कुप्पइ तस्सऽप्पणो ण मग्गंतो । जो रक्खइ निययं चिय कुप्पइ तस्सेव' विवरीओ' ॥१७४ यो 'महति' वाञ्छति परस्य धन द्रव्य, तस्य तस्मै परधन वाञ्छते, आत्मना स्वयं मार्गयन् याचमानो न कुप्यति । द्वयोरपि याचकत्वात् । 'जो रक्खइ' यो रक्षति 'नियय चिय' निजमेव धनं 'तस्सेव' तस्यैव, 1. खखए. 2. श्रमण. 3. पइयदठं. 4. कुठियाण corrected as कुरियाण. 5. कुरियाण. 6. तस्सेय. 7. विवरीयं.
