Subject in brief :
This Upanişat explains the method of creation-how the five elements unite to give rise to mortal bodies, what their special characteristics are. The nature and the Abhimanins of the three bodies, namely, gross, subtle and psychic, as well as the merits and actions of these three bodies are all described in detail.
उपक्रमः
ओ भद्रं कर्णेभिरिति शान्तिः ॥ओं पञ्चीकरणाधिकारनिमित्त उक्तः। अधिकारिणां शिष्याणां सर्वेश्वरकृपया गुरुरूपेण ज्ञानमु(नो)पदेशः । शानाद्विमुक्तिः। अथ शान साधयेत् । झानादेव कैवल्यमिति श्रुतेः। . . . . . शानं वदामि ते । आदौ ब्रह्मा निर्गुण आसीत् । तत्काले प्रकृतिपुरुषो न स्तः । केवल ब्रह्मानन्दमासीत् । तत्राहं ब्रह्मेति स्फूर्तिध्वनिरुद्भवति । सा माया चैतन्यावलोकिता गुणे क्षोभिता भवति । माया व्यक्ताव्यक्तसदसती सद्वयक्ता सा शुद्धादर्शरूपा सदसद्भिः परे ब्रह्मणि संलग्नमस्य प्रतिबिम्बं पुरुषाः । एवं प्रकृतिपुरुषौ अच्छिन्नशब्दितौ ॥
