Chapter IX treats the so called "Shadow Problems."
Raobahadur Rangācharya's edition of Ganitasāra-Samgraha with English translation has been out of print for over thirty five years. Thanks to the zeal and labours of Prof. L. C. Jain, the present edition with Hindi translation goes some way to meet a long felt need. It is, however, felt that a new edition with English translation by an experienced Mathematician who knows Sanskrit well is an urgent need.
The writer is thankful to his learned friends Dr. Hiralalji Jain and Dr. A. N. Upadhye for assigning to him the pleasant task of writing this foreword.
