in Cutch. We possess a copy made of it. These two authors viz, Anantavirya and Vidyānandin refer to TP in their works. 15
Anantavirya in his Siddhivinischayavrtti on folio 228 a says: अत्र तत्त्वोपप्लवकृदाह ctc. and further on on the same folio तत्त्वोपप्लवकरणाद् जयराशिः सौगतमतमवलम्व्य ब्रूयात् , etc. These two passages leave no doubt that Jayaraši wrote the TP and that he and his work. TP are referred to by Anantavirya.16
Similarly Vidyanandin in his work named Aștasahasri which has been published by the N. S. P. says on p. 37 एके हि तत्त्वोपप्लत्रवादिनः etc. and after devoting about five pages to the refutation of तत्त्वोपप्लववाद says: तत्त्वोपालस्वादिनः स्वयमेकेन प्रमाणेन स्वप्रसिद्धन परप्रसिद्धेन वा विचारोत्तरकालमपि प्रमाणतत्त्वं प्रमेय तत्व चोपालुतं संविदन्त एवात्मानं निरस्यन्तीति व्याहतिः (p. 42). The passage विचारोत्तरकाल etc. may be compared with the last few lines of our text wherein Tayarasi says: तदेवमुपाजुनेम्वेव तत्त्वेषु अविचारितरमणीयाः सर्व व्यवहारा घरन्ते ।
15. Compare the following from Prameyakamalamartanda:--- संशयज्ञाने हि धर्मी धर्मों वा प्रतिभाति । धर्मी चेत् स तारिखकोऽतात्विको बा । तात्त्विकथेत् कथ तबुद्धेः संशयरूपता, etc. (p. 13 a N. S. P. 1912) with the following from TPS p. 19: संशयज्ञाने जाते किंचित् प्रतिभाति आहो न प्रतिभाति । तद्यदि प्रतिभाति स किं धर्मी धर्मों वा । तद्यदि धर्मी प्रतिभाति स तात्त्विकः अतात्विको वा । यदि तात्त्विकः नापनेयता तद्विषयज्ञानस्य to कथं तद्बुद्धेः संदेहरूपता || Comparc also the following fronm the PKM p.18b: यदि संबन्धबुद्धौ कोऽयं संबन्धो नाम । किं संबन्धवजातियुक्तः संबन्धो अनेकोपादानजनितो वाने काश्रितो वा, etc. with तयदि संबन्धबुद्धया कोऽयं संबन्धः । किं संबन्धजातियुक्तः संबन्धः आहोस्विद् अनेकोपादान जनितो अनेकाश्रितो वा । etc. TPS p. 7.
This comparison inclines us to believe that the PKM might have taken these passages with a few verbal changes and in a slightly compressod form from TPS. Prabhachandra, the author of the work, is place:l between 950-1020A.D. by Pandit Mahendrakumāra, p.123. Preface to NKC. Dr.Satischandra, however, puts him about 8251. D. pp. 193-194, H.I.L. 16. As these passages are decisive as evidence they are quoted at

२२८३. अत्र तत्त्योपालयकृदाह-चार्वाकः चारुचर्चित स्वयमेव लक्षणमन्तः [१] तदनुपपत्तिस्तेषां न दोषाय प्रत्यक्षोपगमस्तु व्यवहारेणेति । तत्राह-किं के नेत्यादि । तदनुपपत्तेः कारणात् किं प्रत्यक्षादिलक्षणस्य परकीयस्यातिव्याप्त्यादिकं केन न चिद् १] विदध्यात-कुर्यात् चार्वाको । नहि प्रमाणमन्तरेण तदपि कर्तुं शक्यं यतः परपर्यनुयोगपराणि बृहस्पतेः सूत्राणीति सूक्तं स्यात् । किं तदनतिव्याप्त्यादिका, केन प्रतिषेधयेत् या यतो-यस्मात कस्यचिद् विधानात् प्रतिषेधाच्च.....जगत् स्यात । किंभूतमित्याह चातुर्मौलिकमेव चतुर्भिः पृथिव्यादिभिः] स्तुतत्वात्
