The Life of Lord Śri Mahāvira પાનાની ઉપરની કિનારમાં છ પક્ષીઓ કળાભરી રીતે રજૂ કરેલાં છે. નીચેની કિનારમાં બીજાં બાર મયૂરપક્ષીઓ પણ ખૂબીભરી રીતે રજૂ કરેલાં છે.
A page from the DVS KS with elaborate beautiful decorations. On the left panel, is an illustration of the parrots flying up in sky and descending to the earth in a small circle. There is a beautiful combination of the eight heads of the parrots; and the fishes are seen swimming in the water, and the vultures following to catch them. At the bottom extreme left side the artist has represented a peacock couple in very attractive style. The representation of the birds, fishes and the flower plants is not only significant but also beautiful.
In the right panel, are seen different kinds of birds flying in the sky at the top of the panel, and a big ship with the varieties of the birds seated on the different parts of it. Moreover, a peacock is represented turning back his neck in such a lively mood that we have to admire craftsmanship of the artist. Also at the bottom of the panel, he has represented an unfathomable ocean of water with the fishes swimming in it.
In the upper panel, the artist has shown six peacocks facing each other, three times; i. e. six peacocks are represented altogether. In the lower panel, the six double peacocks are shown i. e. altogether, twelve peacocks in different attitudes. The representation of peacocks reflects the mastery in the craftsmanship of the artist.
ચિત્ર પ૬. સિદ્ધાર્થ અને ત્રિશલા. સોહન. પાના ૧૯ ઉપરથી. સિદ્ધાર્થ રાજા સ્નાનગૃહમાંથી નીકળી, બહાર ક્યાં સભાનું સ્થાન હતું ત્યાં પહોંચ્યા અને સિંહાસન ઉપર પૂર્વદિશા તરફ મુખ રાખી બિરાજમાન થયા. ત્યારબાદ પોતાની બહુ નજીક નહીં તેમ બહુ દૂર નહીં એવી રીતે સભાના અંદરના ભાગમાં પડદો બંધાવ્યો.
પડદાની મનોહરતા
આ પડદાને વિવિધ પ્રકારનાં મણિ અને રત્નો જડેલાં હોવાથી અતિશય દર્શનીય લાગતો હતો. જ્યાં ઊંચી જાતનાં વસ્ત્રો વણાતાં હતાં, ત્યાં જ તે બનાવરાવવામાં આવેલ હોવાથી ભારે કિંમતી હતો. બારીક રેશમનો બનાવેલો અને સેંકડો ગૂંથણીઓ વડે મનને આશ્ચર્ય પમાડનાર તાણો તેમાં ખીલી નીકળતો હતે. વળી એ પડદા ઉપર અનેક પ્રકારનાં મનહર અને આશ્ચર્યકારક ચિત્રો આલેખેલાં હતાં. વરુ, વૃષભ, મનુષ્ય, મગર મો, પંખીઓ, સર્પો, કિન્નરદે, રૂરૂ જાતિનાં મૃગલાં, અષ્ટાપદ નામનાં જંગલનાં પશુઓ, ચમરી ગાયો, હાથીઓ તેમ જ અશોકલતા વગેરે વનલતાઓ અને પદ્મલતાઓનાં કળાભરેલાં ચિત્રો તેમાં મુખ્ય હતાં. આ પડદો-જવનિકા બંધાવાનો ઉદ્દેશ એ જ હતો કે અંદરના ભાગમાં રાણી વગેરે અતઃપુરવાસિનીઓ નિરાંતે બેસી શકે.
રાણીનું સિંહાસન
પડદાની અંદર રાણીને બેસવા માટે એક સિંહાસન ગોઠવવામાં આવ્યું. તેની ઉપર મણિ–રત્નની સુંદર રચના કરવામાં આવી હતી. બેસવાની જગ્યાએ સ્વચ્છ અને કેમળ રેશમી ગાદી બિછાવી તેની ઉપર સફેદ ચાદર પાથરવામાં આવી હતી. એ રીતે તે અતિશય કોમળ અને શરીરને સુખાકારી લાગે એવું સિંહાસન ગોઠવવામાં આવ્યું હતું.
