-N. closely follows अभिनवगुप्त who died about I030 A. D. --- शादेव, the only author who cites नान्यदेव.
-Nanya calls his work वाचिकांश i. e. the portion of the subject matter of Bharata dealing with delivery and music (Bharata's divisions वाचिक, आङ्गिक, सात्विक and आहार्य). -ग्रन्थमहार्णव appears to be a work of Nanya. --Nãnya's treatment of his subject is very lucid and comprehensive.
-Authorities quoted by Nanya:-- मतङ्ग, विशाखिल, दक्षप्रजापति, शातातप, काश्यप, and वृद्धकाश्यप, नन्दिन् , दत्तिल, याष्टिक, कीर्तिधर, नारदीयशिक्षा and its विवरण, देवराज, रत्नकोशमत. - Nānya has introduced much new matter in his treatment of जातिs and रागs which is not found in भरत's or अभिनव's works. - The TTGT may be called an independent work like रत्नाकर which is chiefly indebted to अभिनवगुप्त. sth chapter lost in the copy. - General plan of the work (pp. 61-63).
