Twentieth July 1988 was a golden day in the history of Jainism in Europe, perhaps
1 in the world, with the establishment of the first Jain centre which has a place of worship and study for all the major sects of Jainism. The installation ceremony was witnessed by more than 10,000 devotees, including 2,000 from India and other countries of the world. The sixteen day long ceremony included the World Jain Congress, organised jointly by the Jain Samaj Europe and the Jain Social Group Federation. The dream of creating a Centre for promoting non-violence and the Jain way of life was fulfilled in 1988. You can imagine the pleasure and satisfaction in the heart of a person who has been involved in dreaming, designing, developing and delivering the Centre to the Jain Community. when you are celebrating the successful completion of the first decade of the pratistha ceremony
The dream and the development of the Jain Academy are the result of the creation of the Jain Centre. May I take this opportunity to thank all concerned for associating with its activities and for its successful development as a place of pilgrimage for the Jains throughout the world. On behalf of the Jain Academy may I congratulate you and your colleagues for the success in the 10 year celebration of the pratistha and may we wish the progress of the Jain centre and its activities carry on forever.

Dear Mr Bakhai,
On behalf of the Christian Churches in Leicester and Leicestershire, I send you congratulations and warmest best wishes on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Jain Centre Pratistha Mahotsav.
Over the past 10 years, the Jain Centre has established itself as one of the most distinguished modern buildings in the city, an eloquent witness to the values of Jainism, Many of those values - particularly the commitment to 'ahimsa' or non-violence - are crucially important to Christians also, and the Diocese of Leicester in particular is proud of the close relationship which we have enjoyed with the Jain community. Together we have the privilege of sharing with other faith communities and all people of good will in helping our city to be a kinder, fairer, more peaceful and more environmentally friendly society: I know that the contribution of Jain Samai Europe to the achievement of these goals continues to be out of all proportion to your numbers.
I hope and pray that all who participate in your celebrations will experience a deepening of spirituality and a renewal of endeavour. May the Lord bless you all.
