Preface
Kalyan mandir Stotra finds a revered place in Shraman Culture. Both Digambar and Shvetambar sects have accepted this Stotra with great reverence, devotion and faith. In fact Kalyan Mandir Stotra is the pious abode of universal beatitude. Each and every letter of this Stotra is infused with the potency of mantra. Its miraculous influence has been accepted by masses. According to the Shvetambar belief its author was Siddhasen Diwakar. Digambars date this work by Kumud Chandra (another name of the same of the same acharya) to be of eleventh century.
Inspired by the unique sentiment of this Stotra revered Acharya Shrimad Vijaya Susheel Surishvar has written Shri Susheel Kalyan Mandir Stotra. Acharyashri has accomplished the task of combining the original theme of the Stotra with his own feelings of devotion and successfully presenting it in Vasantatilaka Chhand and retaining verbatim the fourth line of the of every quatrain of original Kalyan Mandir Stotra. Each and every verse of the panegyric is a lucid source of sentiment of devotion. Each and every letter is charged with the vitality of Acharyashri's spiritual practices, devotion, chanting and austerities.
I have not just read but also minutely studied each and every word of Shri Susheel Kalyan mandir Stotra. This has revealed on me that Acharyashri has made a fresh attempt of expressing his faith in Kalyan Mandir Stotra. In the past he made a similar unique experiment with Bhaktamar Stotra. He is a scholarly acharya who has reached great heights in austerities as well. His ever-pulsating talent has produced many literary works. Shri Susheel Kalyan Mandir Stotra is like a wavy milky sea of simplicity, lucidity, spontaneity of sentiments of devotion combined with the feeling of universal beatitude.
The Sanskrit, Hindi and English free flowing translations of Shri Susheel Kalyan Mandir Stotra will be found extremely useful for readers of these languages. Inclusion of explanations to the original by Acharyashri appears to be like adding fragrance to gold. Shri Susheel Kalyan Mandir Stotra has 51 quatrains as compared with the 44 in the ancient original work. In the seven extra verses too the fourth lines of some of the original quatrains have been repeated. Thus there is not single verse that does not contain a fourth line from the original Kalyan Mandir Stotra. Acharyashri has made an effort in the direction of fully absorbing the sentiment of the original.
The expertise with which he has included 51 new mantras and yantras based on each verse naturally places him in the front rank of mantra-visionary sages.
