Editor's Note
Shraman culture gives great importance to Stotra (panegyrics and other devotional poetry) literature. Bhaktamar Stotra and Kalyan Mandir Stotra are among specially and widely venerated and praised works. These two have profoundly influenced my life. I have a special liking for the Vasantatilaka Chhand (specific meter in Sanskrit poetry) used in these panegyrics. These two Stotras have attracted me since my childhood. After initiation I studied Sanskrit and Prakrit languages besides philosophy and then joined the field of literary writing. While absorbed in writing numerous books the desire of understanding the true sentiment of these two Stotras and then writing new verses crystallizing those very sentiments continued to haunt me. I was not able to decide whether to present those sentiments in completely new format or mixed format.
I conveyed this dilemma to Shri Shambhudayal Pandeya (Vyakaranacharya, Sanskrit Sahitya Ratna and Kavi Ratna), who is ever involved in my literary activities as editor (in various capacities). He advised me to retain the fourth line of each quatrain and write the first three lines anew, retaining the central theme of the original work. The selection of new terms should be such that every letter may work like a mantra. I found this suggestion by Shri Pandeya meaningful. However, my continued involvement with the rituals of installations of images in various temples as well as completing the literary works started in the past delayed this project. In the meantime my worthy disciple Acharya Jinottam Suri as well as Shri Pandeya continued to remind me to commence my work on these Stotras. I too was eager and inspired enough to do so but was somehow plagued with the writer's block. Now after a lapse of considerable time, by the grace of the Lord and the guru, I have been able to acquire the right mood. One after the other I have concluded the writing of the two Stotras. To avoid any discrepancies due to memory lapses in dotage, the editing work was entrusted to Shri Pandeya. He has accomplished the task with due care and enthusiasm.
When the flavour of each line of "Shri Susheel Kalyan Mandir Stotra" fills the worthy readers and devotees with the sentiments of devotion, I will consider my effort to be meaningful. I have tried to make this work easily comprehensible by including Sanskrit and Hindi translation of the verse. By the grace of the Lord and the guru I have also been able to include 51 Mantras and Yantras related to these verses. May my effort be benefic for all. With my earnest wishes for universal beatitude...
