Nevertheless it does not tend to be a complete lexicon like the . It leaves synonyms out of its scope and hence it excludes a large number of common words that enrich the vocabulary of synonymous lexicons. Excepting the section of technical terms, the lexicon mostly appears to be a homonymous work. But even homonyms form a very small number in comparision to those given in a homonymous lexicon like the शाश्वतकोश.
The author: The colophons of the work contain no reference to the author. Nor do the verses of the text make any allusion to him. Thus the manuscripts contain no internal source of information about the author of the work. Nor do we come across any external data whereby we can definitely ascribe the work to. an author known from other the If the be as the शब्दरत्नदीप, it may be attributed to Kalyana-malla who is known to be the author of the latter. But as long as we cannot ascertain the identity of the two works, the author of the remains unknown to us.
