THE JAIN GRADUATES ASSOCIATION.
A general meeting of the above association was held on the 22 nd August 19:1 at 7-30 P. M. (B, T.) in the Jain Swetamber Conference office, when the followiņg members were present:Mr. Gulabchandji Dhadha. Mr. Tribhowandas Oghad Shah. , Makanji J. Mehta. , Sarabhai M. Mody. , Umedchaud D Barodia, Mohanlal D. Desai. ,, Nathubhai K. Mody
Mr. Makanji J. Mehta was proposed to the chair by Mr. Gulabchandji Dhadha & seconded by Mr. Umedchand D. Barodia.
Then the subjects placed as announced before were discussed and the following resolutions were unanimously passed. . .. 1. -As to Hon'ble Mr. Gokhale's Bill to make better provision for the extension if elementary education the same was approved except the amendment in the 9 (1) that the words 'the yearly income of the parent does not exceed Rs. 200" should be placed instead of the monthly income of the parent does not exceed Rs. 10' and the Goverment should be requested to reduce the prices of Varnacular. Reading Series, which are abnormal at present. I
This resolution should be conveyed to the Goverment and the Hon'ble Mr. Gokhale.
(2), As; to the Hon'ble MrajBasysi Bill to, amend Special Marriage Acts 1872; "the same was' referred- for the decision of the united meeting of the three seets of Jain Cammüħity to be held recently but at the same time the association remmends to it at least the intermarriages between the sects of the same
community. i (3) Asy to. Hon'ble Mr. Ibxabim?s Bill for registration of charities, it is approved in toto. . "
(4) Re. rest of the subjects were postponed till the next meeting fox wapt of time. ;
