is
He who gets exclusively and excessively infatuated with beautiful appearance averse to repulsive appearance. That ignorant suffers pain. But the detached ascetic does not get involved in them (pleasant and unpleasant appearance), does not have attachment or aversion for them. (26)
द्वात्रिंश अध्ययन [ 444]
रूवाणुगासाणुगए य जीवे, चराचरे हिंसइ ऽणेगरूवे । चित्तेहि ते परितावेइ बाले, पीलेइ अत्तट्ठगुरू किलिट्टे ॥ २७॥
मनोज्ञ रूप की आशा - लालसा का अनुगमन करने वाला व्यक्ति अनेक प्रकार से चर-अचर ( त्रस - स्थावर) जीवों की हिंसा करता है, एक मात्र अपने स्वार्थ को ही प्रमुखता देने वाला, राग-द्वेष से क्लिष्ट अज्ञानी जीव विविध प्रकार से उन्हें (चराचर जीवों को) पीड़ित करता है ॥ २७ ॥
A person hankering for pleasant appearance indulges in violence towards mobile and immobile beings many ways. Giving importance to his self-interest and tarnished with attachment and aversion, an ignorant being torments those beings various ways. (27)
रूवाणुवाएण परिग्गहेण,
उप्पायने रक्खणसन्निओगे। विओगे कहिं सुहं से ?, संभोगकाले य अतित्तिलाभे ॥ २८ ॥
रूप में अनुपात - अनुराग और परिग्रह - ममत्व के कारण रूप के उत्पादन, संरक्षण और सन्नियोग (व्यापार-विनिमय) तथा व्यय और वियोग में उसे सुख कहाँ ( प्राप्त होता है) ? संभोग-उपभोग के समय भी उसे अतृप्ति ही प्राप्त होती है, तृप्ति का अनुभव नहीं होता ॥ २८ ॥
How can a man derive happiness on account of love and fondness for (pleasant) appearance while he creates, protects, associates (trades and exchanges), expends and loses the same (things that enhance beauty)? Even when he enjoys them he feels unsatisfied, does not ever experience satiety. (28)
रूवे अतित्ते य परिग्गहे य, सत्तोवसत्तो न उवेइ तुट्ठि । अतुट्ठदोसेण दुही परस्स, लोभाविले आययई अदत्तं ॥ २९ ॥
रूप में अतृप्त तथा परिग्रह (परिग्रहण) में आसक्त उवसक्त (अत्यधिक आसक्त) व्यक्ति को तुष्टि-सन्तुष्टि नहीं प्राप्त होती । अतुष्टि के दोष से दुःखी तथा लोभ से आविल (व्याकुल- कलुषित) व्यक्ति दूसरों की वस्तु को उनके द्वारा बिना दिये ही ले लेता है - चुराता है ॥ २९ ॥
A person, not satiated with (pleasant) appearances and intensely obsessed with acquiring them, never gains satisfaction. Aggrieved with the drawback of discontent and overwrought by greed, such person takes belongings of others without being given (steals). (29)
तहाभिभूयस्स अदत्तहारिणो, रूवे अतित्तस्स परिग्गहे य । माया - मुसं वड्ढइ लोभदोसा, तत्थाऽवि दुक्खा न विमुच्चई से ॥ ३० ॥
तृष्णा से अभिभूत, दूसरे की वस्तुओं को हरण करने वाला - - चुराने वाला, रूप और परिग्रह से अतृप्त व्यक्ति के लोभ दोष के कारण उसके कपट और झूठ बढ़ते जाते हैं फिर भी ( कपट और झूठ का प्रयोग करने पर भी) वह दुःखों से विमुक्त नहीं हो पाता ॥ ३० ॥
