પ્રાકૃત ભાષામાં ૧. વર્તમાનકાળ, ૨. ભૂતકાળ, (ધસ્તન–પરોક્ષ-અદ્યતન ભૂતકાળના સ્થાને), ૩. આજ્ઞાર્થ_વિધ્યર્થ (આશીર્વાદ) અને ૪. ભવિષ્યકાળ (શ્વસ્તન ભવિષ્ય અને સામાન્ય ભવિષ્યના સ્થાને) તેમજ ૫ ક્રિયાતિપસ્યર્થ એટલા કાળો વપરાય છે.
In Prakrit, five tenses are used. They are : 17 Vartmaankaal (Present tense) 2) Bhutkaal (At the place of Hyastam, Paroksha, Adyatan Bhutkaal) (Past tense) 3) Agnyaartha-Vidhyartha (Ashirvaad) 4) Bhavishyakaal (Svastan Bhavishya and Saamaanya Bhavishya) and 5) Kriyaatipattyartha
પ્રાકૃત ભાષામાં દ્વિવચનને બદલે બહુવચન વપરાય છે. જયારે તેનો પ્રયોગ કરવામાં આવે છે ત્યારે બે એવો અર્થ જણાવવાને માટે બહુવચન વાળા નામની સાથે વિભકત્યંત ો શબ્દનો પ્રયોગ થાય છે, દા.ત. ટow પુરિસા નચ્છત્તિ = બે પુરુષો જાય છે.
In Prakrit, Plural tense is used instead of dual tense. To indicate the meaning of 'two' in the sentence, if neccessary the word a (i.e. two) is used along with the plural noun. Eg.: strou RAI TOSP (Two men are going.)
-: વર્તમાન કાળ એકવચનના પુરુષ-બોધક પ્રત્યયો :
< Present Tense 1st person singular affixes :૧લો પુરુષ. પિ (હું) ! મfમ (મા) હું ભણું છું. 1st person.
I am studying. રજો પુરુષ. સિ (d) | મસ (મસ) તું ભણે છે. 2nd person. You.
You are studying. ૩જો પુરુષ.
() | મારૂં (મતિ) તે ભણે છે. 3rd person. He.
He is studying. - -: ધાતુઓ :
-: Root of the verbs :ટૂ (4) કહેવું. To say. | હા () આપવું To give.
(ઠ્ઠ) જવું. To Go. | મમ્ (મ) ભણવું. To study. રાષ્ટ્ર (૭) ચાલવું. To walk. | વ (વસ) વસવું, રહેવું. To live.

-: Forms of the verbs :
(મિ) હું ચાલું છું. I am walking. चलसि (વસ) તું ચાલે છે. You are walking. चलइ (વતિ) તે ચાલે છે. He/She is walking. दामि (વચ્છમિ)
I am giving. दासि (વસ) તું આપે છે. You are giving.
( તિ) તે આપે છે. He/She is giving. આ પ્રમાણે , અને વત્ ધાતુઓનાં રૂપ લખો. Similarly write the forms of the verbs cher (kah), T28 (gachh) and a (vas).
