-: સજન બાળક :એક સજ્જન બાળક નદીના તટ પર જાય છે. ત્યાં નદીના પાણીમાં પડેલા વીંછીને મરતો જુવે છે અને તેના હૃદયમાં કરુણા ઉત્પન્ન થાય છે કેમકે બચપણમાં જ માતા વડે તે બાળક અહિંસાના સૂત્રો ભણાવાયેલો છે. જેમ - “હે પુત્ર ! પ્રાણોના અતિપાતથી અટક' ઈત્યાદિ. - અત્યંત દયાળું તે પાણીમાં પડેલા વીંછીને હાથ વડે પકડે છે, ત્યારે તે જાતિ સ્વભાવથી તેને ડંખે છે, અને પાણીમાં પડે છે.
તે બાળક તેને બીજી વાર પાણીમાંથી બહાર કાઢે છે. ત્યારે પણ તે વીંછી બાળકને ડંખે છે. પરંતુ તે ડંખની વેદનાને ગણતો નથી. ત્રીજી વાર પણ બહાર કાઢે છે ત્યારે પણ તે વીંછી તેને ડંખે છે. તો પણ તે તેને ચોથી વાર પાણીમાંથી બહાર કાઢે છે.
ત્યારે ત્યાં એક ધોબી વસ્ત્રોને ધોતો બાળકને જુવે છે અને કહે છે - હે મૂર્ખ ! લોકમાં તારી જેવા કેટલા ? જેઓ આવા ઝેરવાળા વિંછીને પણ બહાર કાઢે છે !
બાળક કહે છે - તું મને મૂર્ખ કહે છે તેથી હું મૂર્ખ નથી ! જેમ વીંછી પોતાનો જાતિસ્વભાવ મૂક્તો નથી તેમ મનુષ્ય એવો હું બીજાના દુઃખના નાશરૂપ મારા પોતાના ઉત્તમ સ્વભાવને કેવી રીતે છોડું ?
આ પ્રમાણે ઉત્તમ પુરુષો પોતાના ઉત્તમ સ્વભાવને મૂક્તા નથી.

He is extremely kind. He catches the scorpion who is in the water by his hands. But due to its inherent nature, it stings him and falls back into the water.
When the child removes it for the second time, it stings again. But he doesn't care for the pain caused by it. It stings even when he removes it for the third time. Even then he removes it for the fourth time.
Then seeing this boy, a washerman who was washing clothes there tells the boy, "You fool!, How many people are there in this world like you. Who even save such a poisonous Scorpion and save them."
The child says - "I am not a fool, just because you say so. As the Scorpion does not leave its basic inherent nature, how can I, a human being, leave-my inherent good nature of removing pain and sorrow of others ?" "The scorpions nature is to sting and my nature is to save".
Thus the good persons do not leave their good nature.
