These words are used therein to connote not what they mean in the Sutra to which they belong, but something else which is relevant to the theme of the verse, I give that verse here : सर्वस्य द्वे सुमतिमती संपदापत्तिहेतू. वृद्धो यूना सह परिचयात् त्यज्यते कामिनीभिः एको गोत्रे प्रभवति पुमान् य: कुटुम्बं बिभर्ति, algas quafa uqı afz me (hé) fazeg || These instances that we have noticed are entitled to their claim to poetic conception and to dexterity which arrays it in grammatical terminology. There is another kind of verse, found in the literature of all countries, which demands greater ingenuity both on the part of the author and the reader, without any claim to genuine poetic conception. Such are puzzles or riddles, : or f. Occasionally, in Sanskrita Literature, one comes across a conundrum based on Sanskrita Grammar and meant to bring out, when solved, some way. Here is one such verse :— धीरः कीदृग् वचो ब्रूते, को रोगी कश्च नास्तिकः । कीटक चन्द्रं न पश्यन्ति, तदसूत्रं पाणिनेर्वद ॥ This verse asks four questions to which the answers are, respectively : अर्थवद्, अधातुः, अप्रत्ययः,
