___व्ययं सूत्रं हैमं सपदि यदि दक्षो निगदतात् ॥६॥
The answers to the five questions posed in this verse are, in order, tuig, fauters ( which here means devoid of devotion ), a1 A, stafara and F1A, and these taken serially yield the area intended, which is spurglaufalfaias AIA ( 8-8-€ ).
Several different devices are used in ghofana to supply cues to the required answer, . such as addition, removal or substitution of letters; deman. ding opposite words in answer to the question asked; inclusion of the individual letters of the Sutras along with cues for their identification. In some verses the required Sutra is suggested by means of the synonyms of the words comprising the Sutra. In others, particular alteration in the words of the verse are suggested as helping to locate the Sutra. The devices employed to hint at solution are too many to be described here exhaustively. The reader is referred to the list of various kinds of cues, which is, I understand, to be appended to this volume. The Panjika ( commentary ) given under each verse is meant only to clarify the cues, not 10 suggest solution, though
