Jambhettikā 68,73 8 4+ -uu Samă Shorter Dvipadi Dvipadi Remarks-This shows that eighteen Sandhis in all out of a total of one hundred and twelve have the Kadavaka-opening piece. For Dohā and Mātrā see Jacobi, Sanatkumā. racaritą, 20-25, Alsdorf, Kumārapālapratibodha, 70-72, Bhayani, Sandesarāsaka, Introduction, 62-64, 66-68. Mañjari alone is used in Paumacariu 19, 45, while Mātrā combined with Manjari is used in Paumacariu 74. Aranäla also in the same form is found in Paumacariu 53 and Mahāpurāpa 16. It differs from one described by the Chandonušāsana, which does not include rhyme-distinguished internal caesuras and the form uvvu for the third caturmätra, among the characteristics of Āranāla. In the form in which it is found in the three epics, it is undistinguishable from a Şatpadi. Most of the Dvipadis, too, defined at Svayambhūcchandas 6, 163 ff can well pass of as Satpadis. II. METRES OF THE YAMAKAS OR THE MAIN BODY OF THE KADAVAKA. A. The Principle metres Paddhadia ( Paddhatikā), Vadanaka and Paranaka are the principle metres of the Apabhramsa epic. They are of the Samā Dvipadi type with the rhyme scheme a/b. They have the following schemes : 3. "See the discussion further below in this appendix.
