________________ This statement may lead one to think that Sivaditya himself may be Kulêrka, as he is said to have proclaimed Mahâvidyâ syllogisms. But this is not sufficient to identify Kulârka Pandita with Sivaditya Miśra. For, Vâdîndra, Pratyagrûpa-bhagavan and Bhuvansundara have all separately mentioned the names of Kulârka Pandita and Sivaditya Miśra in their works. Vâdîndra mentions Kulárka' Pandita only once and Sivaditya Miśra four times separately. Pratyagrûpa-bhagavân, the commentator of Chitsukhi, also mentions the name of Kulárka: Pandita only once and that of idityat some ten times separately. Bhuvanasundara in his commentary on Mahávidyavidambana also mentions Kulárka Pandita and Sivaditya Misra separately. Had both of them been identical Bhuvanasundara would have explained it accordingly in the commentary. Besides, wherever the name of Kulárka Pandita appears in the above books, it is invariably mentioned in connection with the Mahavidya syllogisms only and not in connection with any other topic. But the name of Sivaditya Misra is mentioned in connection with the definitions of Guna, Jati, Satpratipaksha &c. No doubt Sivaditya Miśra seems to have made use of the Mahavidya syllogisms of Kulárka Pandita and written either a commentary on the Daśaśloki-Mahavidya-sätra or an original work in support of the same as may be inferred from a verse of Ś aditya's quoted by Vádîndra in his Mahávidyavidambana. In commenting on this verse Bhuvanasundara says that the verse is quoted by Vádîndra from another treatise on Mahavidya. Many Authors Wrote Works on Mahavidya Before Vadindra Many learned men who preceded Vádîndra seem to have written works either in refutation or support of the Mahavidya syllogisms.
