Images vary in height from one tala to fifteen talas (sl. 4-13a); no images should be made of longer proportions. The respective proportions are given, of limbs in images of seven talas (sl. 13b-15) in images of seven and a half, 7 talas (sl. 16-18); in images of eight talas (s. 19-21) and in images of eight and a half, 8 talas (sl. 22-24); and lastly in those of nine tālas (sl. 25-32).
Chapter III of 28, twenty-eight verses begins with directions for plotting the ground-plan of buildings (l. 1, 2). The respective positions of the different deities in the general plan, devatā-pada-sthanam, are next given (s. 3-8). The presiding deities with respective positions in a plan of sixty-four plots, devata drst-sthanam, are next given (. 9-21). The directions (of the compass) to which the respective deities should face in temples, are next given (sl. 24-27).
Chapter IV consisting of 67, sixty-seven verses, describe images of Brahman and his manifestations (l. 1-7); of his consort (s. 8); of the Vedas and Nṛtyasastram; the position of other auxiliary deities in a temple for Brahman (l. 14, 15); the eight attendants of Brahman (l. 16-20).
The twelve forms of Surya are next described (sl. 21-34); the position of the subsidiary deities are next given (sl. 35-37) and the attendants of Surya (sl. 38-46).
The nine chief planets, navagrahas are described, next (sl. 48-58); as also the ten guardians of quarters, dasa-dik-palas. Chapter V deals wholly with Visnu and consists of 116, one hundred and sixteen verses.
The first few verses (sl. 1-6) show the suitability of particular forms of Visnu for particular castes. The conditions, when mutilated images are to be accepted or rejected, are next given (sl. 7).
The next section on the twentyfour forms of Visņu, Caturvimsati-murtayah, enumerates the distribution of the objects, held in hands, for the various forms (sl. 8-13) and the order of distribution (sl. 14).
