________________ ૭૦ નગરશેઠ શાંતિદાસ ઝવેરી also of a religious character, is that, in 1630 (s. 1686), this magnate used his great influence to secure for his religious guru, Muktisagar, the dignity of an acharya at the hands of the great pontiff Vijayadevasuri, the successor of the more famous Vijayase. nsuri. The ceremony took place at Ahmedabad in the temple of Mahavir Swami, and on this occassion Mukti. sagar assumed the new name of Rajsagarsuri, under which he is known in the history of the Jain church in the 17th century. Rajsagarsuri also became the founder of a special gaccha or Jain sect in Gujarat which came to be known as the Sagargaccha, and which counted Shantidas among its foremost followers.
