જેઓનાં માબાપ તેમને પિતાના ઘેર કાંઈ શિક્ષણ આપી શકતાં હોય તેમને તેજ લેવા દો અગર બીજે ગામ સારી નિશાળ હેમને શોધી લેવા દે; જે વિદ્યાર્થીઓનાં માબાપ તેવી સવડ કરી શકે તેમ ન હોય હેમને અમાનુષીપણુના શિક્ષણમાં વખત ગુમાવવા કરતાં અભણજ રહેવા દેવા એ ઓછું નુકશાનકારક છે. ચંકાવનારૂં સત્ય ! હા, પણ “સત્યને છુટછાટ મૂકવી પાલવતી નથી. “Truth admits of no compromise” એક જબર જસ્ત અધ્યાત્મી અને મહાન યોગી સુર્વણમય શબ્દોમાં કહે છે કે –
“As to the nation, can that kind of union save her, which is not for righteousness? Can you unite the people by keeping them in the dark? Would national harmony be secured by sworn slavery to error and superstition ?' Suppose all the sailors work in a common direction but that direction be negative, not one with the evolutionary course, not truth-ward; would that be desirable? Such a boat is bound to be shattered to pieces on a rock, and, perhaps, the sooner the better ... ... ... Union in purity and truth alone is practicable”
અને આ પ્રસંગે “ખરા સુધારકને સૂચના તરીકે એજ મહાત્માના શબ્દ અમૂલ્ય થઈ પડશેઃ
"Every statue (smrite) stands there to say: 'yesterday we agreed so and so, but how feel you this article today?' Every institution is a currency which we stamp with our own portrait; it soon becomes unrecognizable and in process of time must return to the mint. Nature exults in forming, dissolving and reforming her crystals. Chaugeless change is the essential conditi m of life.”
(ઉમેરીશ કે, ત્રેવીસમાં તીર્થકરે કરેલાં “વ્રતમાં ચોવીસમા તીર્થ કરે ફેરફાર કર્યો એનું નામ changeless change અને એવી જ રીતે હરકોઈ institution અથવા સંસ્થામાં ફેરફાર કરવાનું કે હેના વગર મુદલ ચલાવી લેવાનું કે નવી જ સંસ્થા ઉમેરવાનું–પરંતુ મૂલ આશાને વળગી રહીને તેમ કરવાનું–શાસ્ત્રસમ્મત છે.)
કાયદાઓ અને સંસ્થાઓ શા માટે છે ? માણસજાતને આગળ વધારવા માટે, જાનવરપણામાંથી માણસ૫ણમાં અને માણસ પણુવાળાં જીવતા માણસને દેવપણુમાં લઈ જવા માટે; કાયદાઓ અને સંસ્થાએ માણસ માટે છે, માણસ કોઇ કાયદાઓ અને સંસ્થાઓ માટે નથી. અને માણસ બદલાતા સંજોગોમાં નવા કાયદાઓ અને નવી સંસ્થાઓ કરી શકે છે. તે માણસ કેવો અભાગીઓ છે કે જેનું ભવિષ્ય” “ભૂત'માં છે અને જેની દષ્ટિ સમક્ષ સદા ભૂતકાળજ છે !—જે કદી વર્તમાનને જોઈ શકતો નથી સ્થળ અને સમય બને બદલાય છે; અગાઉ એટલેન્ટીક ખંડ હતો ત્યાં હાલ મહાસમુદ્ર
