__ मुनि कल्याण ज्योतिषशास्त्र में निष्णात थे। उन्होंने बहुत सो भविष्यवाणियाँ की थी और सिकन्दर की मृत्यु को भी उन्होंने पहिले से ही घोषित कर दिया था। इन भारतीय सन्तों की शिक्षा का प्रभाव यूनानियों पर विशेष पड़ा था, यहाँ तक कि तत्कालीन डायजिनेस (Diogenes) नामक यूनानी तत्त्ववेत्ता ने दिगम्बर वेष धारण किया था और यूनानियों ने नंगी मूर्तियाँ भी बनवाई थी।
यूनानी लेखकों ने इन दिगम्बर मुनियों के विषय में खूब लिखा है। वे बताते हैं कि यह साधु नंगे रहते थे। सर्दी-गर्मी की परीषह सहन करते थे। जनता में इनको विशेष मान्यता थी। हाट-बाजार में जाकर यह धर्मोपदेश देते थे। बड़े-बड़े शिष्ट घरों के अंतःपुरों में भी ये जाते थे। राजागण उनकी विनय करते और सम्पति लेते थे। ज्योतिष के अनुसार ये लोगों को भविष्य का फलाफल भी बताते थे। भोजन का निमन्त्रण ये स्वीकार नहीं करते थे। विधिपूर्वक नगर में कोई सभ्य उन्हें भोजन दान देता सी उसे ग्रहण कर लेते थे यी मेखकों के इस वर्णन से उस समय के दिगम्बर जैन मुनियों का महत्त्व स्पष्ट हो जाता है। उनके द्वारा भारत का नाप विदेशों में भी चमका था। भला उन जेसे मुनीश्वरों को पाकर कोन न अपने को धन्य मानेगा।
