મુનિ કે જે કાશીમાં બ્રાહ્મ કુલમાં જન્મેલ હતા. પ્રથમ વેદ ધમને સારી રીતે અભ્યાસ કર્યો હતો. પાછલથી ગંગા નદીને કાંઠે એકેક પ્રાણ બીજ પ્રતિપક્ષી પ્રાણીઓથી, ગલતા જોઈ વૈરાગ્ય પામી જૈન દીક્ષા અંગીકાર કરી, મહા જ્ઞાની અને તપસ્વી બન્યા માસ ખમણને પારણે પિતાના ભાઈ વિજય ધાને આરંભેલ યતમાં ભિક્ષા લેવા આવતાં બ્ર ઘણાએ તિરસ્કાર કર્યો, તથાપિ તેની દરકાર ન કરતાં બ્રાહગુ ધર્મ અને બ્રાહણ શબદનું ખરૂ રહસ્ય પ્રકાશ જેણે वि०४५ धेपने पीक्षा यापी इस नामके एक मुनि जो कि काशीमें ब्राम्हण कुल में जन्मे थे. प्रथम वेद धर्मका अच्छा अभ्यास किया । था, पाछ से गंगा नदोके तटपर एक २ प्राणी अन्य प्रतिपक्षी प्राणी द्वारा निगला जाता हुश्रा देख थैराग्य प्राप्त हो गया. जैना दीक्षा अंगिकार करके बडे ज्ञानी और तपस्वी बने. मास खमण (एक मासका उपवास) के पारणे | के दिन अपने बन्धु विजयघोष ने प्रारंभ किये हुए यज्ञमें भिक्षा लेने को गये किन्तु ब्राह्मणोंने तिरस्कार किया, परंतु उस की परवाह न करते व्राम्हरप धर्म व ब्राम्हण शब्द का यथार्थ रहस्य का प्रकाशन कर विजयघोष को भी

दीक्षा दी. Name of an ascetic of Benares and born in a Brahman family. First he had studied Vedism well, but afterwards when he saw on the bank of the Ganges every acquatic creature being devoured by the other rival creature, got disgusted of the worldly life, became a Jaina ascetic and acquired a vast knowledge and practised an austerity. Once on the day of breaking it fast of one month he went to bey abos to the place of Sacrifice which his brother Vijaya Ghoşa had begun but without any regard for being rebuked by the Brahmans explained vividly the meaning of the Vedic religion and of the word Bralımana winned his brother and initiated him in
