प्लव - The "lie' of the ground site, declivity of the वास्तु -- forms one of the various considerations that go to guide the selection of sites for buildings, townships, etc. It does not invariably happen that the site for construction of buildings is in level throughout in all directions; thus प्लव--slope of the site for buildings etc., may be in one direction or concurrent in two or more directions. The forin which the consideration of this problem assumes becomes the more complex, the more directions are involved in it. अपराजितपृच्छा like समराङ्गागणसूत्रधार takes cognizance of this aspect of 3 in fer (four main cardinal points of the compass ) and fafait (four main angular points of the samc) only.
A site sloping towards the East generally brings prosperity, that towards the North Wealth, while it it slopes towards the West and South, it brings destruction of property and deatlı respectively.
This subject of 3 is elaborated greatly in other works of area. There it is not one cardinal point of the compass to which it is confincd, Two or more directions are involved together so far as the slope is concerned. They have thus the beneficial or adverse effects on occupants thereof according to the nature of the siope. 3 in one direction has the same effect as 3*994 (rise) in the opposite direction.
गोवीथि, जलवीथि, यमचीथि, गजवी थि, भूतवीथि, नागवीथि, वैश्वानरीवीथि, धनवीथि - these aure the names of eight kinds of प्लव mentioned in अपराजिनपृच्छा.
I mention some more प्लबs as under -- पैतामह, सुपथ, दर्घायु, पुण्यक, अपथ, रोगकृत, अर्गल, श्मशान, श्येनक, श्वमुख, ब्रह्मन्न, वातनिघ्न (न), स्थावर, स्थण्डिल, शाण्डुल, मुस्थान, सुलभ, वास्तुचर,सत्पथ (श्वमुख).
The लक्षण etc., of the above can be appreciated from verses 2 to 26 of the second sea of anafaai, which are quoted below:
भुवः प्लवं प्रवक्ष्यामि नराणां च शुभाशुभम् । पूर्वप्लवा वृद्धिकरी उत्तम धनदा स्मृतः ॥२॥ अर्थक्षय करी विद्यात् पश्चिमालवना ततः। दक्षिणप्लवना पृथ्वी नराणां मृतिदा भवेत् ॥३॥ बारुणोचसमायुक्ता नीचमाहेन्द्रसंयुता । गोवीथिरिति सा ज्ञेया ऐन्द्रोचा नीचवारुणा ॥४॥ अलवीथिरिति प्रोक्ता वास्तुज्ञान विशारदः । सोमोच्चा यमनीचा च यमवीथिति कथ्यते ॥५॥ यमोच्चा सोमनीचा च गजविथीति कयते । ईशोच्च नितिनीचं भूतलं भूतवीथिकम् ।।६।। आग्नेयोच बायुनीचं नागवीथी प्रशस्यते । वायूचमग्निनीचं यद् वीथीं पैश्वानरी विदुः ॥७॥
