________________ 24 TAPASVI NANDI SAMBODHI prerana (7) rāmākrīda (8) hallisaka (9) rāsaka (10) gosthi (11) śrīgadita and (12) rāga-kāvya, etc. He says that details for these which he has only defined should be sought from "brahma-bharata-kohalādi-śāstrebhyah avagantavyah." The Nātyadarpana of Ramacandra and Gunacandra talks of other varieties of rūpaka at the end of the fourth chapter when it is stated : tad evam nātakādīni vīthyantāni dvādaśa rūpāņi sa-prapancam lakṣitāni. anyanyapi rūpakāņi drśyante. The ND. does not call these as upa-rūpakas, or geya etc. but simply states that there are other forms of rūpaka or drama also. But when the ND. describes them in brief and separates them from the first twelve, it follows that they are taken as minor varieties. They are enumerated as : (1) sattaka (2) śrīgadita (3) durmilitā (4) prasthāna (5) gosthi (6) hallīsaka (7) śamyā (8) preksanaka (9) rāsaka (10) nātya-rāsaka (11) kavya (12) bhāna and (13) bhānikā. The ND. enumerates nātikā and prakarani as major types. For Śäradātanaya (ch. IX) (IX), the minor types are 'padārthābhinavārmaka' and are twenty such as (1) totaka (2) nātikā (3) gosthi (4) sallāpa (5) silpaka (6). dombi (7) prekṣaṇam (8) nātya-rāsaka (9) rāsaka (10) ullāpyaka (11) hallisaka (12) durmallika (13) kalpavalli (14) mallikā (15) pārijātaka (16) lāsaka (17) śrīgadita (18) bhāna-bhāni (19) prasthāna & (20) Kavya. For NLRK (i. e. Nātakalaksana-ratna-kośa) of Sāgaranandin, the uparūpaka types are : (1) gosthi (2) samllāpa (3) śilpaka (4) prasthāna (5) kävya (6) Hallīsaka (7) śrīgadita (8) bhānikā (9) bhāņi (10) durmalikā (11) preksanaka (12) rāsaka (13) nātya-rāsaka (14) ullāpyaka. Naţikā and Trotaka are enumerated with the major types. Vägbhata II mentions nātikā and sattaka and the 'geya' varieties after Hemacandra, such as- (1) dombikā (2) bhāna (3) prasthāna (4) bhānikā (5) prerana (6) singaka (7) rāmākrida (8) hallīsaka (9) śrīgadita (10) rāsaka (11) gosthi (and the rest.) Singabhūpāla in his Rasārnava-sudhākara speaks only of nātikā and takes it only as a mixed variety of nataka and prakarana which does not deserve a separate recognition for him (Rs. III. 218-222). He does not talk of other upa-rupakas. Vidyānātha does not mention anything beyond the ten major types (Pra. Ru. Nātaka-prakarana, pp. 73-74, Edn. Madras, '14, ibid). Viśvanātha enumerates (SD. VI. 4-6) (1) nāļikā (2) trotaka (3) gosthi (4) satďaka (5) nātya-rāsaka (6) prasthāna (7) ullāpyaka (8) kāvya (9) prenkhanam (10) rāsaka (11) samlāpaka (12) śrīgadita (13) silpaka (14) vilāsikā (15) durmallikā (16) prakarani (17) hallića (18) bhanikā. They are eighteen in all. Jain Education International For Personal & Private Use Only www.jainelibrary.orgPage Navigation
